EXPLORE THE ARTWORK

Watercolour number 3 Autumn 25 series is a vibrant watercolour painting. The piece has a combination of hot reds, yellows, and cool greens and blues. It's a sunny piece, perfect for warmer coloured wall spaces.

Part of a series of six paintings, this is the third piece in the series. The painting is of an atlas moth. This awesome insect painting shows the moth taking flight, spreading its wonderful red wings, giving the piece a sense of movement and dynamism.

The painting style is illustrative, abstract, and naive realism. There is motion in the marks. You can see the pencil through the brush strokes, and dashes of black and white ink give the piece a sense of energy that gives the atlas moth life.

The final original painting has a natural wax medium finish. The glaze gives the piece beautiful depth and a natural shine. I mounted the artwork on acid-free, archival mount board.

This watercolour is ready to hang on your wall. This painting comes with a magnetic float mount, and is so light, you'll find it easy to place it where you want it.

WATERCOLOUR NUMBER THREE, AUTUMN 25 SERIES, IS ABOUT ALERTNESS.

The painting shows an Atlas moth spreading its mighty wings and flying upward.

Moths amaze me; some people fear them. I have the opposite reaction. I love all life.

Moths astound me, as do Butterflies.

They have this incredible joy for life, where they hold onto and fly towards the light.

Their life is eating, mating, and sleeping till they die. It's a celebration of life, experience, and intimacy with one another.

I always find it incredible during the summer. When leaving my door open during or after sunset brings many different moth species.

They adorn my cabin walls like an intricate tapestry.

Once, eight different species clung to the canvas under the light. Glittering and shimmering with that magic.

They teach me lightheartedness. They show me that this fleeting life is for living, for loving, and for flying toward the light. Whatever that light is.

I learn to live to the fullest I can. To never take anything for granted, and to pursue all the joys and pleasures a life can hold while possible.

Their wings, markings, antennae, and tiny fur are so beautiful.

They embody the delight of existence and teach me to keep flying upwards no matter what happens.

The way I painted Watercolour 3 Autumn 25 Series was a multi-layered approach. I wanted to blend the abstract with the figurative to bring out the spirit of the animal.

That innocent wisdom that this lifetime is for us all to enjoy, that is what this painting is about.
